Celebrating 50 Years of LBNC
In 2023, Leighton Buzzard Netball Club marked a significant milestone in the club’s history by celebrating its 50th anniversary in style.
Ahead of the start of the new season, the club’s golden jubilee was commemorated with an evening that brought together current members, friends, and supporters, creating an atmosphere of nostalgia, celebration, and camaraderie. The evening featured a fantastic blend of festivities, including sumptuous food, refreshing drinks, a lively disco, and the club’s annual awards ceremony.
As part of the evening, Leighton Buzzard Netball Club had the pleasure of being joined by England Netball star Elle McDonald. Elle took a moment to share with the club her own story and journey from local netball club to Netball Super League and England Roses player. The club were honoured that Elle was able to join us as the following week she jetted off to New Zealand with the rest of the Vitality Roses for an International Series against the Silver Ferns.

The evening was an opportunity to present the Annual Club Awards for the previous season to our members, recognising those that played outstandingly for their team throughout the season along with highlighting those club members who had grown throughout the season and have significant potential for future seasons.
Also joining Leighton Buzzard Netball Club on the evening was President of Bedfordshire County Netball Association, Alison Brightman along with Gloria Keech, Chair of Bedfordshire County Netball Association. A highlight of the evening was Alison and Gloria taking a moment to say a few words and recognise one of the club’s longest standing members Barbara Walshaw, who is a true diamond within the club and epitomises the spirit of Leighton Buzzard Netball Club.
As Leighton Buzzard Netball Club toasts to its 50 years of excellence, here’s to many more decades of netball, camaraderie, and community building for the Leighton Buzzard Netball Club!
